The West: The Green Circle and the A23
On the southern and western edge of Burgess Hill there is a bridleway that can take you up as far as The Sportsman pub at Goddards Green. This means you can walk from Batchelors Farm
all the way round to this point or go eastward and continue via the
footpath that runs both to the the eastern edge or north towards the
station. Furthermore, the future may provide a continuation from the
northern end round to Bedelands.
So far, I've given the impression it is fairly easy to navigate the
entire way round Burgess Hill via it's greener parts. Indeed, there are
quite a few park spaces throughout the urban interior that, I hope,
remain. (Enjoy them while they last). There is one
sticking point. The western edge of Burgess Hill is bordered by the A23
that in a large part bars the Lady that Walks in her wanderings in that
direction. I have found two decent crossings that are of use and
connected by walking-suitable paths.
.
Some paths wander up to the edge and look like they should cross but are entirely blocked by boundaries. Others are too hazardous. At Chaites Farm, the path is promising. To the west, a cycle path runs parallel but, on the east side, the track is present but not a right of way. A few moments of standing at the edge tells you  that crossing it is a no go.
