Light at the end

CADAQUES TO CALA NANS LIGHTHOUSE AND BACK

Easter took the lady who normally walks near Burgess Hill to warmer climes. The heart and home of surrealist landscapes and Dalí. Indeed, you are reminded of his paintings at every turn, where the scenery and inspiration is a reality along side the material of dreams.

I'll not go into too much detail. The route took myself and the family from the bus station to the shore. There was some hesitation as we scrambled on the rocks near Sa Conca but we were back on track, following the coast and searching for a beach, one better than the last.

The sun was in force and the sea predictably freezing but enticing on this April day. Platja Sa Conca was attempted but we found the barnacled rocks unpleasant to walk on and made a dip prohibitive.

Frustration was rising amongst the younger of the party as we headed for the lighthouse. But it was worth the wait. The well signposted and flower adorned trail took us to the beach at Sa Sabolla. I understand this is often the hideout for nudists but on this day we had it near enough to ourselves. These beaches are pebbly but the water is clear and here it was calm.

The final push to the lighthouse and the return to Cadaqués for ice-cream was, understandably much easier.
